At the end of June, 360,149 people were registered as unemployed or in AMS training, 32,149 fewer than in the previous month of May and 103,356 fewer than in June 2020. The unemployment rate was 7 percent at the end of June, a decrease of 0.7 percentage points compared to May and 3.1 percentage points compared to June 2020. “In May, with 3.8 million employees, we achieved the pre-crisis level of employment for the first time,” commented Labor Minister Martin Kocher (ÖVP) on the latest labor market data. This positive development on the labor market is also boosting the economy. “It was therefore important to provide a model with the short-time work phase five that does not slow down the dynamism that is starting,” says Kocher. From July 1st, the Corona short-time working phase 5 will start with two variants.
