With Parkinson’s disease, Lars von Trier said he will take a “little break” until new projects

In an interview with the specialized Hollywood site, Variety, Von Trier said about his future: “I’m going to take a little break until I find what to do. But I certainly want my condition to improve. It’s a disease that you can’t be cured of; you can work with the symptoms, though.”

“I just have to get used to being shaky and not embarrassing myself in front of people. And then move on, because what else can I do?”

“Riget”, the Dane’s series, presented its final season in Venice and is the latest work by the winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for the musical drama starring Icelandic Björk in 2000, “Dancer in the Dark”.

The director said that the illness “means that he could not be up to the task as a director in the way that he would have liked because he was ill and that was a shame for the actors of ‘Riget'”, although he estimates that “they performed well”.
