Reading lesson with Peter Maffay at home: “I think reading is something totally intimate, emotional and something totally beautiful,” says his partner and author Hendrikje Balsmeyer.
Hendrikje Balsmeyer likes to have a book read to her by her partner Peter Maffay. “Sometimes I’m just too tired in the evening to finish reading the chapter, so I’ll ask Peter,” she said in a dpa interview.
“Sometimes I have to ask twice before he understands that my question was meant seriously. But then he is happy to do it and I enjoy it very much.”
The two have just published a children’s book, the read-aloud book “Anouk, your next adventure is calling!” for children five years and older. It is dedicated to their three-year-old daughter Anouk. Balsmeyer reads it to the little one again and again, even if she often shortens the chapters so that it doesn’t get too long for the little one. “I think reading is something totally intimate, emotional and totally beautiful,” she said.
