This was reported by ORF Tirol on Thursday. The dismantling was argued with poor forecasts for city tourism. Above all, guests from Asia and overseas would be absent in the foreseeable future, it said.
At the beginning of July, the short-time working model in the Swarovski shops expired. The employees were informed about this as well as about the downsizing. Those affected were registered with the AMS.
The group spoke of “painful steps”, a necessary adjustment of the range of services and emphasized that the social plan that was drawn up last year in the course of the downsizing also applies to the people who are now affected in the shops. Last year, 70 million euros were made available for this.
A drastic reduction in Swarovski shops had already become known in January. In Austria, 33 of the 102 stores were canceled. Around 750 of the 3,000 shops worldwide are said to be affected at the time.
Swarovski was in the negative headlines at regular intervals due to massive job cuts in 2020. 1,200 employees were cut at the headquarters in Wattens. This year 250 more should follow.
