Lothar Matthäus has revealed that his daughter Viola has married. Leading her to the altar made him “happy and proud”.
Former national soccer player Lothar Matthäus (60) knows that his youngest daughter Viola got married on the first weekend in September in Italy. The 33-year-old married the Austrian manager Andreas Gangl (34) in the castle hotel “Castello di Buttrio” near Udine. “Taking my daughter to the altar made me happy and proud. I am grateful to be able to spend this special day with my four children,” said the football icon.
Dream of a wedding in Italy fulfilled
The bride also had her say in the interview: Since she was a little girl, she had dreamed of getting married in Italy. “Now this dream has come true. Even twice. Because Andreas is my dream man. I couldn’t have a better husband.” According to “Bunte”, the 33-year-old took her husband’s name and is now called Viola Gangl-Matthäus. “The two go together so wonderfully, live the same values, complement each other. I can just feel how much they love each other,” explains the bride’s mother, Silvia Matthäus (61). Her two daughters Alisa and Viola as well as the family “always come first for me. I am grateful”.
Lothar Matthäus is now in his fifth marriage (since 2014) to the 27 years younger Russian Anastasia Klimko. The two have a son (born in 2014). Before that, he was married to the Ukrainian-born Liliana Matthäus (33) from 2009 to 2011 and to the Serbian Marijana Kostic (49) from 2003 to 2008. The former professional kicker was married to the Swiss Lolita Morena (60) from 1994 to 1999 . He also has a son with her (born 1992). With his first wife Silvia (1981-1992) the soccer world champion from 1990 had two daughters Alisa and Viola.
