Cabernet Sauvignon: labels for all palates and budgets

Although it originated in France, over the years its influence has expanded to other producing countries in the Old and New Worlds such as Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, California, Chile, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and of course Argentina.

In the country, according to the latest data from the National Institute of Viticulture (INV), there are registered more than 14,100 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, around 6% of the total area.

One of its distinctive qualities is that it has adapted very well to different terroirs, climates and soils, and for this reason it can be found in most of the provinces where wines are produced, Mendoza, for example, concentrates 76% of the total plantations in the country.

The profiles of Cabernet Sauvignon vary depending on the areas where it is grown and the temperatures. Black and red fruits predominate; aromas of spices are also often appreciated, such as black pepper and the characteristic note of pepper, which can be red or green.

Here’s a guide to options and prices for labels that cost between $2,000 and $20,000.
