Pizza mode and grill function: this is what the symbols on the oven mean

Watch the video: pizza mode, grill function, hot air – that’s what the symbols on the oven mean.

There are numerous symbols on the control panel of modern ovens, but do you know what they mean?
Here are the most common oven symbols and their functions.
One symbol is self-explanatory: the lamp. If you turn the dial to the lamp, the oven light comes on. The heating functions remain off.
A single line above means top heat only.
The line below: bottom heat.
A line above and a line below: top and bottom heat
The fan in the circle is hot air
This symbol is not so self-explanatory: A line below and a fan in a circle: This is the “pizza mode”.”. This setting is ideal for pizza. The lower heat ensures a crispy base, the hot air function ensures that the pizza is well baked.
Fan without circuit is: forced air
A jagged line above is the grill function of the oven, the grill is hotter than the normal top heat.
The fan and the jagged line at the top: Is the convection function with grill
Incidentally, hot air and circulating air are not the same thing.
For hot air, an additional heating element is switched on directly behind the fan so that the hot air is optimally distributed inside the oven.
Forced air only disperses the heat emanating from the top and bottom heating elements.
Energy saving tip: Hot air and hot air make better use of the available heat, which is why the same baking results can be achieved at lower temperatures.
