British singer Sarah Harding died of breast cancer at the age of 39. At an appearance in 2015, she spoke about the fact that her mother and aunts were already sick.
As a member of the band Girls Aloud, Sarah Harding celebrated success in the noughties. The British woman died of breast cancer last weekend at the age of only 39. Particularly tragic: Harding did not go to the doctor despite chest pain. In Great Britain, women are only regularly asked to have a mammogram, an X-ray examination of the breast, from the age of 50. But Harding also feared that a preventive medical check-up would put additional strain on the British health service (NHS), which was already working at its limit during the corona pandemic. The singer was extremely stressed: Several members of her family had breast cancer or had lumps in their breasts.
Sarah Harding told the British newspaper “Daily Mail” in 2015 at a charity event of the “Pink Ribbon Foundation”. The organization has been working for women with breast cancer for many years and collects donations.
Harding was afraid of developing breast cancer
“Breast cancer is very important to me because it runs in my family. My mother and all of her sisters have had lumps removed,” said Harding. In addition, there were close friends of her family who had to undergo a mastectomy, i.e. the removal of the entire breast. At the time, the singer said that she was very afraid of developing breast cancer, but had fortunately been spared so far.
Last August, Harding made public on her Instagram account that she was diagnosed with breast cancer and that it had already spread. Despite chemotherapy and a mastectomy, the 39-year-old was unable to beat the disease. She died on September 5th in the presence of her family.
