STORY: The British Prince Harry is on his own mission in Düsseldorf, so to speak – albeit for the benefit of others. He and his wife Meghan Markle are promoting the Invictus Games, which will be held here next year, on Tuesday. The Duke of Sussex launched this sports competition in 2014, in which servicewomen and men who were injured in military service compete with each other, and has been promoting it ever since. When entering the Golden Book in the town hall, the Queen’s grandson found an easy start. “Hello Düsseldorf, we, Meghan and I, are very happy to be here today. But that’s where it ends. It is both an honor and a pleasure to be here in Düsseldorf today, where we are a ‘Home for Respect ” build, our motto for the Invictus Games 2023 in Germany. But before I go any further, there is something I need to ask and know. I hear that the beer is better here than in Cologne. Is that true? Is that true “We’ll have to find that out on this hot day, I couldn’t think of a better reason. I’m glad that’s settled.” In addition, Prince Harry naturally underlined the importance of the sporting event taking place in Germany for the first time. Soldiers and veterans too often paid a high price for collective security. The Games should give them and their loved ones thanks and respect for their courage, strength and selflessness. This respect is to be bestowed on around 500 competitors from more than 20 countries and around 1,000 family members and friends next September. The athletes compete in ten disciplines. In addition to the city of Düsseldorf, the Bundeswehr is also the host and wants to help build the “Home for Respect”.
