Also on the list: Robert Menasse (“The Extension”), Helena Adler (“Fretten”), Iris Blauensteiner (“Breathing Skin”), Markus Grundtner (“The Urgency of Things”), Verena Rossbacher (“Mon Chéri and our demolished Souls”) and Thomas Stangl (“Mercury Light”). Five titles will be shortlisted on October 11, and the EUR 20,000 prize will be awarded on November 21.
Lena-Marie Biertimpel (“Air Cushion”), Sirka Elpass (“I blow-dry my eyelashes”) and Anna Maria Stadler (“Maremma”) have a chance of winning the debut prize (10,000 euros). There were 133 submissions in total. In 2021, Raphaela Edelbauer won with “DAVE”.
