His role has been growing and he has become a fundamental figure in the communication of his wines and in the creation of new varieties and their combinations. Today they are considered the great protagonists of the wine of the moment, because it is thanks to their decisions that such diverse wines are achieved in so many places.
Lucas Quirogawinemaker of Malma Winery, tells us: “This profession means having respect and commitment to making and caring for a genuine and ancient drink such as wine. We are the drivers of a microbiological process that takes place in the winery, where we set parameters and take care of each process in order to achieve correct bottle safety.”
For its part, Javier Lo Fortewinemaker of Pulenta Winery: “This profession means a lifestyle for me. It is what I inherited from my family, what was breathed. From my farmer grandfather to my father, Agricultural Engineer and Viticulturist. The concept of wine in the family, of wine in family life and that, naturally, in my life as a student, made me lean towards this beautiful profession, today I am a professional, teacher and enthusiast of oenology”.
Likewise, he highlights how creativity is part of the process of creating a wine: “The creative process is achieved through experimentation and that is what we dedicate a large part of the year to experimenting, trying new things, investigating. This creative process is achieved by being influenced by different exponents of viticulture and oenology outside, inside, young people, professionals. It is constant, continuous and daily in our Winery”.

Quiroga agrees: “Creativity is achieved once a terroir is known and interpreted. Learn about the attributes that each varietal provides and find all the necessary tools to enhance their qualities, both in handling from the vineyard and in the winery’s production. And he adds: “It is important to know what the consumer or the market is looking for, but without losing personal style.”
On the other hand, they highlight the role of communication: “We winemakers have a duty to convey the conception and characteristics of the wine we make. Not everything ends with the label, behind this there is a whole year of work, different collaborators, climates, soils, winemaking techniques, etc. And this is what we have to express, everything else is sensations that we can suggest, but the perceptions are going to be specific to each person”, adds the winemaker from Bodega Malma.
“Communicating is one of the most important actions in this process of creation and creativity. Communicating what we do is achieving this great contribution to regional and national viticulture and oenology”, concludes Lo Forte de Pulenta Estate.
