San Salvador de Jujuy – Well organized, the VIII International Film Festival of the Heights ended yesterday in this city, named after the seven Andean countries. Evenly, there were prizes for each of them. Peruvian Henry Vallejo, who lived for a long time in Tucumán until he found his place in the world by returning home, won the top prize with “Manco Capac,” about a boy seeking acceptance and a good job. Other awards went to Colombia (“The red tree”, “Toro”), Bolivia (“The great movement”), Chile (“My brothers dream awake”), Ecuador (“The invisible”) and Venezuela (the anti-crack “Erase once in Venezuela”, Best Documentary), but a good part stayed in Argentina. To highlight the three Audience Awards were Argentineans: “Siete perro”, with Luis Machin, the animated short “Una pause para la Madre Tierra”, by Aldana Loiseau, and the documentary “Mujer perseverante” by Soledad San Juan, about a cooperative that with microcredits employs about 600 people from 80 communities dedicated to llama wool.
