Lee Jung-Jae from The Squid Game Makes History at the Emmy Awards

He is the fourth Asian actor to win in any of the Emmy acting categories, and the first to win the drama award for a non-English speaking role.

Lee was victorious over a tough list of competitors, including Bob Odenkirk of “Better Call Saul”, Jason Bateman of “ozarks”, adam scott of “severance” Y Brian Cox Y Jeremy Strong of “Succession”.

Lee earns her nomination after her breakout role in the surprise hit of Netflix “The Squid Game”. The series premiered on the streaming platform last September. Following a successful run, the South Korean drama was renewed for Season 2 in June. This is the first Emmy nomination for the director of “Hunt.”

“The Squid Game” received 14 total Emmy nominations this year and took home four Emmys at this year’s Creative Arts Emmys earlier this month. In particular, the actress Lee You-mi she took home a gold statue for Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Ji-yeong.
