Jean-Paul Belmondo: All of France are saying goodbye

The actor Jean-Paul Belmondo was paid his last respects with a statesmanlike funeral service in his hometown of Paris.

At a public funeral service in and around the courtyard of the Invalides in Paris, family members, companions and innumerable admirers gathered to pay their last respects to the late Jean-Paul Belmondo (1933-2021). Among the well-known mourners were the former President of France, François Hollande (67), and the incumbent Emmanuel Macron (43). The latter held a funeral speech for the deceased “As of Asse”.

Numerous colleagues from Belmondo also attended the ceremony, including Alain Delon (85), Jean Dujardin (49), Marion Cottilard (45) and Sami Naceri (60), to name just a few. The French character mime died last Monday (September 6th) at the age of 88.

A superstar from the 60s

Belmondo made their breakthrough in 1960 in “Out of Breath” by director Jean-Luc Godard (90), five years later the duo achieved another great success with “Elf Uhr nachts” (1965). In 1989 the actor received the César, the most important French film award, in the category “Best Actor” for his role in “The Lion” (1988).
