Football coach Flick has gone under the authors. In his book he speaks highly of his wife.
National soccer coach Hansi Flick has made public a serious illness of his wife Silke from twelve years ago. In 2010, she was “diagnosed with breast cancer,” the 57-year-old writes in his book “In the Moment – About Success, the Beauty of the Game and What Really Matters in Life,” from which “Bild” printed the first excerpts.
“I was scared like I had never felt before. Being there for them and the children was even more important than usual. I received unique support from the DFB during this phase and was able to withdraw for a certain time,” writes Keep flicking. He still admires his wife to this day, “with what strength and inner calm she mastered the difficult situation. I lay in bed with tears in my eyes much more often than she did.”
After this experience, the national coach no longer takes sporting defeats so personally. He learned: “There are things that are bigger and more important than football.”
