Farewell: View of the Queen’s coffin: David Beckham is also pending

The former soccer star is one of the many people who queue for hours to take another look at the Queen’s coffin to bid her farewell.

Celebrities also want to catch a glimpse of Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin. On Friday, ex-soccer star David Beckham joined the kilometer-long queue at Westminster Hall, where the Queen is laid out. The 47-year-old told Sky News that he got in line at 2 a.m. and waited around twelve hours.

He was there to honor the “special” Queen. “It’s a sad day, but an unforgettable one,” said Beckham. “I’ve been fortunate to have had a few moments in my life to be with Her Majesty.”

Numerous people waiting tried to take a photo of the former England international – and forgot to go on. Images showed Beckham wearing a blue hat and holding an umbrella.

“I feel a little sorry for him but he’s taking it easy,” tweeted eyewitness Jules Birkby. Another user, citing her best friend’s mother, confirmed that Beckham, like everyone else, queued for hours.
