Monarchy: No access for mourners to Buckingham Palace gate

The Royal Parks Administration is asking people to go to Hyde Park to lay flowers for the Queen.

Access to Buckingham Palace has been restricted the day before the Queen’s state funeral. “If you are planning to visit Buckingham Palace today, please note that you cannot enter the area in front of the main gate,” the royal parks said on Sunday.

Since the death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, mourners had gathered in front of the Royal Palace in London, and thousands laid flowers in front of the gate.

The Green Park in the immediate vicinity of Buckingham Palace is also expected to be overcrowded, the park administration said on Twitter and advised mourners to leave their flowers in Hyde Park.

The mourning areas in both parks will also be open the day after the state funeral scheduled for this Monday.
