State reception at Buckingham Palace: the most powerful in the world gather

Great Britain does not face an easy day tomorrow Monday. Their monarch, who ruled the country for 70 years, will be buried. A day for the history books. But first, King Charles III. numerous heads of state and government as well as royalty from all over the world were invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace. Other members of the Royal Family were also expected.

A government official told the BBC the effort was comparable to 100 state visits in a matter of days. The British media describe the meeting because of the guest list as a reception of the century. Several states with which Britain has poor or no relations have not received an invitation. The most striking is the absence of Russia.

March of the most powerful in the world

TV pictures showed, among other things, how the former Spanish king Juan Carlos walked up the steps to the castle with a stick. His son King Felipe VI. and Queen Letizia and the Swedish royal couple Carl Gustav XVI. and Silvia and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark were among the guests.

Later, French President Emmanuel Macron, US President Joe Biden and Japanese Emperor Naruhito also arrived with their partners. The participation of the guest and his wife Empress Masako is considered a special honor. Traditionally, Japanese monarchs do not actually attend funerals, either at home or abroad.

It has also been reported that King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan are in attendance, as are Israeli President Izchak Herzog, Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Irish President Michael D. Higgins.

Also German guests in the palace

The Crown Prince of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the Sultan of Oman are said to have also come to Buckingham Palace. Guests will also include the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Saba. Of course, British Prime Minister Liz Truss and Foreign Secretary James Cleverly are also present.

Ursula von der Leyen is said to have been invited from Germany, and Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier was also expected to attend the event.
