The Queen’s final journey begins: the procession to Wellington Arch

The Queen’s final journey has begun: her coffin was laid out in Westminster Hall until this morning. Countless people said goodbye to the Queen and sometimes waited more than 14 hours in the kilometer-long queue. This morning the procession to Westminster Abbey followed, where the official funeral service took place with high-ranking guests from all over the world. From Macron to Biden to Steinmeier and Trudeau: everyone came to pay their last respects to the Queen.

After the funeral service, the Queen’s coffin is again lifted onto the gun carriage. The conclusion in London is a procession to Wellington Arch. The two-kilometer route leads through Parliament Square, the Horse Guards Parade parade ground, the avenue The Mall to Wellington Arch, the triumphal arch in Hyde Park. Big Ben chimes throughout the procession.
