Next Monday the Argentine film shortlisted for the Oscars will be unveiled

Each member of the selection committee casts their vote indicating their three chosen films, in order of preference. The productions nominated to be chosen as the one that represents the country are 61 films, which have been or will be released in theaters between January 1 and November 30, 2022.

“Argentina, 1985”, by Santiago Miter and starring Ricardo Darín and Piter Lanzani, already selected for the Spanish Goya Awards, is the great candidate this year to compete for a chance at the Oscars.

In recent years, the same film has always been chosen for both awards.

After the election of the Academy, the chosen film must overcome two instances by the Hollywood Academy to be among the five nominees for Best Foreign Film

The last Argentine film to compete for the Hollywood Academy Awards was “Relatos Salvajes”, by Damián Szifŕón, in 2014. In 2010, “El secreto de sus ojos”, by Juan José Campanella, and in 1986, “La historia oficial”, by Luis Puenzo, were the two films that won the statuette.
