Prince Harry is said to have been obsessed with staff loyalty tests

Prince Harry seems to have had a media phobia for much longer than Meghan has been in his life. But Meghan compounded everything with bullying attacks on staff – a new book reveals details of the Sussexes at the royal court.

Ever since his mother, Princess Diana, died 25 years ago in a car accident in Paris in which paparazzi are said to have been chasing her, Prince Harry has had the press on his back. The British news portal “The Times” has now published excerpts from a new royal book called “Extracts of Courtiers: the Hidden Power Behind the Crown” by Valentine Low, which offers amazing insights into life at the royal court of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle before they left give to the royal family.

“The Times” writes that the book reads that Prince Harry had developed an obsession with the media before he was with Meghan. He is said to have subjected his employees to regular loyalty tests to see if anyone could leak information to the press. As his relationship with Meghan developed, his fears of damaging headlines only got worse. With the expected hordes of journalists scouring every aspect of Meghan’s life, Harry was determined to protect his girlfriend from the press.

Meghan Markle is said to have urged Prince Harry to make a public relationship statement

But Meghan of all people is said to have put pressure on to make the relationship public. She is said to have even threatened the prince with a separation if he did not confirm the relationship. A source reported, “She said, ‘If you don’t provide a statement confirming that I’m your girlfriend, I’ll break up with you.'” Harry was panicking. Another source said, “He freaked out and said, ‘She’s gonna dump me.'”

Prince Harry is said to have called his private secretary Jason Knauf at the time and asked him to make a statement confirming that Meghan was his girlfriend and Prince Harry condemning the racist and sexist undertones of some media reports. Meghan wanted public confirmation that this was a serious relationship. She was convinced that the palace did not want to protect her from the media. She is said to have even said to Prince Harry’s staff: “I know how the palace works, I know how it will turn out, the girlfriend doesn’t matter.”

She had her own opinion and Meghan let people know what she thought of them, according to the British news portal. In the spring of 2017, more than six months before the couple’s engagement, she reportedly told one of Harry’s advisors, “I think we both know that I’m going to be one of your bosses soon.” Around the same time, Meghan spoke particularly harshly in front of her colleagues during a meeting with a young female member of the team. After Meghan ripped apart a plan the woman had designed, she lamented how difficult it would be to implement a new one. “Don’t worry,” the Duchess is said to have replied. “If there was someone else I could ask, I would ask them instead of you.”

Prince William apparently tried to iron out the damage

Prince William later learned of the situation and, according to author Low, addressed the employee concerned and said, “I hope you’re doing well. You’re doing a really good job.” The employee is said to have burst into tears immediately.

When it comes to compliance, Duchess Meghan is said not to have followed the palace’s regulations. According to her personal assistant at the time, Melissa Touabti, countless packages arrived at Kensington Palace every day. “Clothes, jewelry, candles. There was always something coming,” says a source. Touabti apparently scrupulously followed and dismissed the household rule that members of the royal family are not allowed to accept freebies from commercial organizations. Her actions were not well received by Meghan.

On October 26, 2018, the situation with the quarrels surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan is said to have worsened massively. While the couple were flying from Tonga to Sydney for the Invictus Games, Jason Knauf reportedly wrote an email to his immediate boss Simon Case, Prince William’s private secretary. In the email, Knauf is said to have said that he spoke to the head of human resources. Had to inform the Palace of “some very serious issues” regarding Meghan’s behavior.

Knauf is said to have written: “I am very concerned that the Duchess has been able to harass two personal household assistants over the past year. The Duchess always seems to have someone in her sights. She harasses X [Name vom Autor zurückgehalten] and tries to undermine their confidence. We have received many reports from people who have witnessed unacceptable behavior towards X, despite the general view of their peers that X is a domestic leader doing a quality job.” A month after that email, Jason Knauf quit the collaboration with the couple and joined the staff of Prince William and Duchess Kate.
