Not long after she announced her engagement to Sam Asghari on Instagram, Britney Spears deactivated her profile. While her fans worry, her lawyer tries to appease.
It’s now a popular trick to get a little attention. Miley Cyrus did it, Helene Fischer or Lena Meyer-Landrut: delete or deactivate your own Instagram account. Now Britney Spears was doing it too.
Britney Spears deletes Instagram account
But the difference to the other artists is that Spears has no new album to promote. On the contrary, her career lies idle. For several months, the 39-year-old has been fighting against the strict guardianship that does not allow her to live freely. On Instagram, she had last sporadically kept her fans up to date and repeatedly commented on her dispute in court. Now your profile can no longer be found.
Spears said in a nutshell on Twitter, “Don’t worry guys. I’m just taking a little social media break to celebrate my engagement. I’ll be back soon.” An explanation that did not reassure some of her fans. In the comments below the tweet, some express concerns and suspect that Britney’s team deleted their account because they recently spoke more openly about guardianship and they dislike it. They also wonder why the tweet was posted from the desktop app, but not from a cell phone. Still others make a completely different assumption: Britney is pregnant, so she is now withdrawing.
The fans’ worries are unfounded
It is quite possible that the worries are completely unfounded. “Silence can be a powerful thing and a powerful message,” an insider told Page Six. The move to deactivate her account was Britney’s decision, the source affirmed. Spears’ new lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, also confirmed to the magazine that his client had made the decision herself.
Unlike Cyrus, Fischer or Meyer-Landrut, Spears has no album to promote. Instead, bit by bit, she is regaining control of her life and her image – that should be worth even more.
