Model Elsa Hosk has posted nude pictures of herself on Instagram, which also show her baby naked. Countless followers then expressed criticism – against which the model resisted.
Posting kids on social media is a controversial topic. While some believe that parents know best what is good for their own offspring, for others it is a taboo. The Swede recently traveled to New York and took the breathtaking view from the window as an opportunity to hold a small photo shoot. The Victoria’s Secret model did without clothes, instead holding her seven-month-old daughter Tuulikki Joan in her arms. The baby is also naked in the three pictures that Hosk posted.
And while she received a lot of praise and likes for the photo series from other celebrities and influencers, the comments from other users are almost entirely critical. “Please do not post your baby naked, there are so many sick people in the world,” was an even more moderate comment. “You don’t even have your child’s permission (which is not possible because she’s a baby). What if your child sees this in a few years and doesn’t want to be seen naked on Instagram?” Asked a user. “I reported that for your safety and that of the baby. You know you can get in real trouble for posting child pornography, right?” Said another user.
She defends herself
On the last comment, Hosk took a stand himself, and posted her answer later in her story. “Wow, posting a picture with my baby and I naked is not child pornography. It’s a normal thing. (…) If I decide to post this, it’s my business. If any sick person im Internet thinks it’s child pornography, then that’s the sick person’s problem and not mine, “she said, explaining that as a child in Sweden she used to walk around naked. “To me, being naked with my baby is the most beautiful thing ever. Skin to skin,” she wrote.
The followers hadn’t even criticized the nakedness itself. But the fact that Hosk made a photo of it available to her 6.9 million followers and the rest of the world.
