The German NBA star Dennis Schröder calls for jokes about his loss of millions after signing the contract.
The German NBA star Dennis Schröder (23) shows humor. After his unsuccessful contract poker in the NBA, he prompted jokes about himself. The post he published on his 28th birthday says, “I’ll only do this ONCE! Insert your best ‘deep mess’ joke here.” And further: “It’s my birthday. So let’s get it over with and then get back to business.”
He illustrated the post with a series of photos in front of two luxury cars and lots of bags and suitcases. Also featured is the screenshot from a Twitter comment that said, “Honestly, I wish everyone would make fun of me because I only get six million dollars for playing basketball.”
It could have been 84 million
The national basketball player had turned down an offer from the Los Angeles Lakers of 84 million US dollars (about 71 million euros) for four years in order to play poker and get even more salary. The Lakers then decided against Schröder and so he went to the Boston Celtics for “only” 5.9 million US dollars (about 5 million euros) for one year.
