Hats off to the young talents of the O. Dance Academy

The stage is finally free again for the young talents of the O. Tanzakademie, the talent factory founded in 2013 by the Landestheater and the Musikschulwerk. On Thursday and Friday, the “Tanzoptikum” invited to the music theater (black box) for a round dance, which impressively demonstrated the skills of the young dancers, but also how versatile and creative their training is. From the classic base, it extends its feelers in many directions. The joy of dancing is always noticeable – with all obviously intensive training. Which is certainly also thanks to the imaginative choreographies of the dance academy directors Ilja van den Bosch and Isolde Setka, Elias and Daniel Moralez Prez, Maria Blahous, Rie Akiyama and Laura Macias.

Even the atmospheric prelude lets the sparks jump and ignites a Spanish fire in the circle of chairs with flamenco elements. As much as the sensual, proud dance experience casts its spell, a peppery quilted insert is thrilling. And talented athletes with good fitness also have the twist in their blood. Exercises on the bar, in which body control is transformed into grace and elegance, provide insights into the intensive daily training routine. The youngest are led into the world of dance in a playful way: Little pirates mutiny on the high seas.

For the more mature semesters, dance becomes an artistic means of asking explosive questions: “The Spinners”, based on the music by Julia Lacherstorfer, question the role of women. How is a choreography created? This is also the subject of the training, which Selina Edwards creatively explores in her choreography “Misty”.
