Jérôme Boateng was sentenced to a heavy fine for assault. His defense lawyers have appealed.
The former national player and ex-Bayern star Jérôme Boateng (33) was found guilty of bodily harm in front of the Munich district court on September 9th. His new defense attorneys have now appealed.
When asked by the news agency spot on news on September 16, a spokesman for the district court said that the defendant’s previous defense attorney had resigned his mandate. Two newly appointed defense attorneys, the Munich I public prosecutor and a joint plaintiff have also appealed the judgment in due time.
Fine of 1.8 million euros
According to consistent media reports, the court had previously imposed a fine of 60 daily rates of 30,000 euros each on Boateng. This corresponds to an amount of 1.8 million euros. A former partner had accused him of being attacked by Boateng in 2018. He rejected the allegations in court. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
Boateng became world champion in Brazil with the German national team in 2014. The ex-Bayern star now plays at Olympique Lyon.
