British Royals: Princess Kate visits mothers in the maternity ward

First public solo appointment after the mourning phase for the Queren: Princess Kate visited a hospital’s maternity ward.

Princess Kate met mothers and their babies at a maternity ward in Guildford, England.

The 40-year-old informed herself there about the holistic care of pregnant women and mothers, according to a report by the British news agency PA.

The Princess of Wales, as she has been known since the death of Queen Elizabeth II, wore a belted yellow dress during Wednesday’s visit. The Royal Surrey County Hospital’s maternity ward in Guildford had previously received an award from UNICEF for its work on breastfeeding and parent-child relationships. About 3,000 babies are cared for there every year.

The visit was Kate’s first solo public appearance since the Queen’s death on September 8. Kate gave birth to her three children, George, 9, Charlotte, 7, and Louis, 4, all in the private Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London. There has long been speculation as to whether she and her husband Prince William (40) will have a fourth child. Of course, Kate did not reveal details of her family planning. But she did chat a little bit out of the box during the visit: Deciding on the names of her children took “an eternity”, she said, according to PA.
