The musical “Tick, Tick… Boom!” he says goodbye this sunday

“Although `Tick Tick Boom´ is the story of an artist in crisis, it is also the story of any person who is looking to find himself,” Caballero told Télam about the work, which in the local version is led by Federico Couts, Lucien Gilabert and Pedro Velázquez with Giuliana Sosa (piano), Juan Pablo Sosa (drums), Leandro Biera (guitar), Fernando Oviedo (bass) and Pedro Sosa (keyboards).

This autobiographical musical invites you to peek into the intimacy of Jon Larson’s creative process in 1990s New York, where AIDS was an epidemic and homosexuality was still taboo.

Premiering off Broadway in 1990, “Tick, Tick… Boom!” presents a Larson six years before January 25, 1996, when he died of an aneurysm before the premiere of “Rent”, the work that would crown him as one of the great composers in the history of musical theater, which would earn him an award Pulitzer and a Tony for best musical.

Three decades later, that story became a film directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda and starring Andrew Garfield that premiered on Netflix and received, among other awards, two Golden Globes and two New York Film Critics Awards, in addition to of two Oscar nominations.

In the midst of that furor, the piece that had had a first version in the past decade, landed again on Corrientes Avenue where this year he performed an intense season, from which he says goodbye this Sunday.
