The 31-year-old media artist was born in Kazakhstan and lives in Vienna. She convinced the jury with her 30-minute video installation “Pampa”, in which Krämer depicts private living spaces and the socio-cultural challenges that culminate here in times of the pandemic. The artist is primarily concerned with the exploitation of body and mind in a neoliberal performance and production society: “The focus of my work is the feeling of isolation and being overwhelmed and the strong need for peace that I feel in myself and in the people around me watched me around,” says Christina Krämer.
3600 euros endowment
The Willemer Prize, endowed with 3600 euros, is a recognition of high-quality work by female artists. It was presented yesterday at the Ars Electronica Center.
