Once inside the Eco Park the experience is unique. It is a 5-kilometer aerobic circuit with paths that border different lagoons, copying the curves of the stream Jaguar. It is one more proposal of this Buenos Aires city, recognized for its rich history and the Sanctuary of the Virgin, which position it for weekend getaway tourism.

According to the community chief, Manuel Passaglia, “The idea of the Eco Park arose because we believe that it has to be a space for coexistence between people and nature where respect for the environment can be promoted through the experience of a walk surrounded by water and privileged landscapes.”

It should be remembered that the Eco Park is open every day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and cars and motorcycles can only travel from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., since on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays the circulation is for the exclusive use of pedestrians and bicycles.

But the adventure does not end there. The lands of the district of San Nicolás were called “Payment of the Streams”, by the existence of the Seco, Medio and Ramallo streams. According to history, the city was founded by Rafael de Aguiar on April 14, 1748, although its existence was a few years earlier due to the fact that a thousand people already lived on those lands. The name of the party and city responds to Aguiar’s devotion to San Nicolás, the saint of Bari, and to the geographical seat: the primitive “Pago de los Arroyos”.

That is why the tour also allows to know part of the history. To then enter what is known as religious tourism. It should be remembered that every September 25, since 1983, faithful and devotees of the Virgen del Rosario de San Nicolás gather in the city’s basilica to participate in a new anniversary of the Marian apparition. The Virgin, according to testimonies and Vatican studies, manifested herself for the first time before Gladys Quiroga de Motta. It was in the year of the return of democracy to our country when the woman was in her room, praying, with a rosary in her hands, and a virgin appeared to her and made a gesture as if to give her something of hers.

San Nicolás is, in other words, the closest opportunity to experience a weekend full of nature, history, peace and sports.
