The name of the Municipal Auditorium “Marciano” Cantero was chosen through social networks by 2,500 voters. The space has an area of ​​1,800 square meters, 1,200 of them covered, and also has a capacity for 500 people.

“We summoned the largest number of bands to pay tribute to Marciano, from the Maipú community we wanted to pay a small tribute to the artist who gave so much to Argentina. We bet on culture, we hope to have many recitals and that the bands find their place in the Auditorium”, said Mayor Matías Stevanato, who was present along with the musician’s relatives.

From very early on, both relatives, friends and fans approached the Auditorium and found inside a stage that will be the meeting point for local bands that will perform a tribute to the musician under the motto “I’m still singing”, from the 18.

“He would be very grateful today, very happy for this tribute to his name, he would be very happy,” said Viviana Gutiérrez, Cantero’s wife, present in the place where some of the band’s songs such as “Muralla verde” were heard in the background. “Bolivian lament”, “Friends”, among others.

Horacio “Marciano” Cantero died on Thursday, September 8 at the age of 62, after being admitted to the Policlinico de Cuyo hospital in Mendoza due to kidney disease.

The singer was part of the band for 40 years, with Felipe Staiti, Tito Dávila, and Daniel Piccolo among others, with whom they rose to fame after the Cordovan festival in La Falda in 1984.
