“Mausi” was his fourth wife, but the first with an animal name: in 1991, contractor Richard Lugner married the Austrian Christina Haidinger and gave her the nickname. The marriage was divorced after 16 years – what remained was Lugner’s preference for giving his partners nicknames from the animal kingdom. “Hasi” and “Käfer”, “Bambi”, “Katzi” and “Kolibri” followed. “Spatzi” made Lugner his fifth wife in 2014, the marriage lasted only two years. His engagement to “Bienchen” last year is also burst in the meantime.
On the occasion of his 90th birthday, Richard Lugner of Munich said: “Some women express wishes, but every animal name is meant with respect and affectionate – not insulting.” The fact that he is currently single hurts him a lot, said Lugner. That’s why he wants a woman for his birthday. “Over 40, at least.” A new animal nickname could certainly be found quickly.
