TV legend: Frank Elstner still has TV concepts up his sleeve

He doesn’t seem to be running out of ideas. Frank Elstner’s innovation drawer is filled to the brim.

TV veteran Frank Elstner (79) has withdrawn from show business – but is still working on new ideas. He told “Spiegel” that he no longer watches much television, but that he still had concepts for new programs in the drawer.

“Three of them are very specific, one is a bomb, 20 more so far just gimmicks,” says the “Wetten, dass ..?” Inventor who lives in Baden-Baden. Elstner told the news magazine that he wanted to continue making and moderating animal films – just no more shows: “I’m out of old age.”

Elstner, who made it public in 2019 that he suffers from Parkinson’s, also talks about a new hobby: he box. Boxing keeps him mobile, it is also good for coordination, he told the “Spiegel”, and therefore ideal for him as a Parkinson’s patient. Together with the neurologist Jens Volkmann, he plans to publish the book “’Then I stop shaking’ – Life in spite of Parkinson’s” at the end of September.
