Great Britain can look forward to another royal baby: The Queen’s granddaughter Princess Beatrice has given birth to a child. The girl was born late on Saturday evening, as Buckingham Palace announced on Monday. It is the twelfth great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and the fourth baby to be born in the family this year. The Queen’s grandsons Princess Eugenie, Zara Tindall and, of course, Prince Harry and their partners were already looking forward to having offspring this year.
The Buckingham Palace announcement reads: “HRH Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are pleased to announce the arrival of their daughter at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London, on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11:42 pm The baby weighs 2.7 kilograms. The grandparents and great-grandparents of the newborn have been informed and are pleased with the news. The family would like to thank everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care. Your Royal Highness and child are doing well, and the couple look forward to introducing their daughter to her older brother, Christopher Woolf. “
Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi got married in 2020
The 33-year-old Beatrice had married her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July 2020 without public announcement and in the closest family circle. The Italian already has a son from a previous relationship and asked for the Queen’s granddaughter in September 2019 after about a year of relationship. Beatrice is the daughter of the Queen’s second eldest son, Prince Andrew, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
For the family it is very welcome positive news in a difficult time: Prince Andrew is looking forward to a civil lawsuit in the USA as part of the abuse allegations against him.
