One of them is the “Greiner Dilettantengesellschaft”, which ten years ago was the first amateur theater group in Upper Austria to play on the state theater stage and thus marked the beginning of close ties. On November 1st, the Greiner Dilettantes will open the dance in the Kammerspiele with Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” (director: Christian Hochgatterer), the Baroque Theater Lambach with Yasmina Reza’s social satire “The God of Carnage” (February 26th) and the Neuzeug theater group with Alois Continue Johannes Lippl’s “Der Totentanz” (April 1).
“The love of people and togetherness connects us with the amateur theater, which is an additional division at the house,” says State Theater Director Hermann Schneider bowing to his amateur theater colleagues. Head of drama Stephan Suschke also found professional love for life while still a student on an amateur theater stage: “Amateur theater has an important social function in times of social erosion.”
“Creating networks and offering training, such as that to become a game master,” says Gerhard Koller, chairman of Upper Austria. Amateur Theater Association, another of the many essential tasks of the association for our cultural and thus social life.
