A first teaser from Netflix makes the hearts of Britney Spears’ fans beat faster. The documentary “Britney vs. Spears” is apparently supposed to shed more light on guardianship.
The first teaser is only 18 seconds long, but it’s tough. The voice of Britney Spears can be heard calling a lawyer. The message is dated January 21, 2009. “Hello, my name is Britney Spears. I called you earlier. I’m calling again because I wanted to make sure that during the process of lifting the guardianship …” can be heard from Spears. Then the teaser stops.
Netflix announces Britney Spears documentary
“Britney vs. Spears” is the name of the Netflix documentary about which only rumors have circulated so far. On Tuesday, the streaming service confirmed with the teaser that there will actually be one. The first trailer is expected on Wednesday.
Although you can’t find out much from the teaser, the title is clear: “Britney vs. Spears” alludes to her long-term fight against father Jamie Spears, and possibly even her entire family.
Collaboration with Sam Lutfi?
However, it is unclear to what extent Britney herself was involved in the documentation and whether she benefits (financially) from it. Doubts from her fans are justified, after all, the singer has been controlled for over ten years and robbed of her independence.
In fact, the voice message played in the teaser is one of the messages that Britney’s ex-manager Sam Lutfi posted this summer. Unlike Netflix, Lutfi didn’t let the message break off in the middle. It goes on in full as follows: “… because I wanted to make sure that during the process of lifting the guardianship, my father threatened me several times that he would take my children away from me. It has not been communicated whether Netflix worked with Lutfi for the documentation. The ex-manager was once referred to as a piranha by Spears’ mother, Lynne, who is trying to gouge her famous daughter. An accusation that is also made to the Spears family. Fans still have to be patient. The Britney documentary is likely to be one of the most eagerly awaited Netflix productions in a long time.
