Successful start for “SOKO Linz” on ZDF

The opening episode “The Creation 2.0”, which was filmed at the Johannes Kepler University, was watched by an average of 3.54 million viewers at 6 p.m., which corresponds to a market share of 20 percent. For comparison, two other thrillers on ZDF on Friday evening had 5.49 million (“Jenseits der Spree”) and 4.83 million viewers (“SOKO Leipzig”).

The ORF started the new crime series with the episode “Judas” on February 1st. The number of viewers was a strong 869,000, but the reactions to the episode, which was set in the uninviting Franckviertel, were largely negative. There were nasty comments, especially on social media (“We’re not like that”, “Bland and colorless”). After that, the ratings fell gradually, but the criticism remained.

Second season from February 2023

However, the ORF and the production company Gebhardt-Productions were not deterred by this. The shooting of the second season with 13 more episodes – to be seen from February 2023, ORF 1 – has just been completed. Florian Gebhardt revealed in April in the OÖN interview: “We came to stay and are already working on a third season.”
