King Charles III (73) has appointed Rishi Sunak (42) as the new Prime Minister of Great Britain. Numerous heads of state and high-ranking politicians, including Olaf Scholz (64) and Joe Biden (79), congratulate the 42-year-old – and hope for good cooperation.
Strong connection in “difficult times”

Biden also described Sunak’s appointment as a “groundbreaking milestone” during a White House reception.
“Congratulations to Rishi Sunak who has been appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,” wrote French President Emmanuel Macron (44). Together they want to tackle the current challenges, “including the war in Ukraine and its many effects on Europe and the whole world”.
The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj (44) also spoke of wanting to strengthen the relationship between the countries. He also wished Sunak that he could rise to whatever challenges Britain and the world were facing.
Last but not least, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte (55) sent “sincere congratulations”. He wishes Sunak “every conceivable success”. He is also looking forward to further deepening the “excellent, long-standing connections between the Netherlands and Great Britain”.
