Linda Evangelista has not been seen in public for years. On Instagram, the former supermodel has now given the reason for her diving – a beauty procedure.
In the 90s, Linda Evangelista was considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. Together with Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford, she belonged to the ranks of supermodels and was, among other things, the face of luxury brands such as L’Oréal and Prada.
Linda Evangelista on her condition
While many of the former top models can still be seen regularly in public today, Linda Evangelista has gone underground for five years. In a long Instagram post, the now 56-year-old revealed the reason for this: she was the victim of an unsuccessful cosmetic surgery.
She was “brutally disfigured” disfigured by a beauty method called CoolSculpting. This is a process in which fat cells in the body are destroyed by means of cold. In the case of Evangelista, however, this method did not lead to a breakdown but, on the contrary, to an increase in fat cells. She is now “permanently deformed”, writes the Canadian, and two painful corrections have not changed anything. According to Evangelista, she is “no longer recognizable”.
The mother of one son also explains in the post what exactly went wrong with her: She suffers from a phenomenon called “Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia” (PAH), an effect that can occur in very rare cases when using CoolSculpting. She was not aware of the risk, writes the former model.
Linda Evangelista describes her current state in the darkest of colors: PAH has not only destroyed her joie de vivre, but keeps her trapped in a cycle of depression, deep sadness and self-hatred. “I have become a hermit,” is how she describes her current life. The former top model has now filed a lawsuit against her treatment. She goes public with her story because she wants to get rid of her shame.
In 1990, Linda Evangelista said in an interview about her life as a top model: “We don’t even get up for less than $ 10,000 a day.” Today she has other goals: “I want to step out the door with my head held high, even if I don’t like myself anymore.”
