For many, the current energy saving is a major challenge, but journalist Gerhard Delling sees it as normal. He has always tried to save electricity with a few simple tricks.
Saving energy is part of everyday life for long-time “Sportschau” presenter Gerhard Delling (63) – and not just since prices have exploded.
“I’ve always been the one who makes sure the lights are off,” revealed the Hamburg-based sports journalist to the German Press Agency. He was brought up that way and always thinks about where he could save energy. “And not to save a few pennies, but out of conviction.”
He firmly believes that everyone can make their contribution – by simply pulling the plug. “If that’s 80 million, that’s good!”
Between 1989 and 2019, Delling hosted 380 “Sportschau” programs, more than any other moderator. Together with his longtime TV partner Günter Netzer, he was awarded the Grimme Prize in 2000 – for the high linguistic level and the humorous nature of the duo.
