His contract as director of the Vienna State Opera was extended early in June until 2030. “I accept this challenge because I have a clear idea of where the State Opera has to go in these extraordinary times,” says Roscic. Among other things, which direction he means by that, the 58-year-old will discuss on Monday, November 7 (6:30 p.m.) at the OÖN Castle Talks in cooperation with the state’s Kultur GmbH in the Linz Castle Museum. In addition, Roscic will talk to Head of Culture Peter Grubmüller about the effects of the pandemic on the music theater market, about the development of visitor numbers and the changed audience behavior.
The culture manager, who grew up in Linz, is also planning a renewal of the state opera repertoire. He will also reveal which works he would like to add to the Haus am Ring. And in 2024, the State Opera is about to open another venue – the French Hall in the Künstlerhaus Wien will be put into operation. What additional offers is Roscic planning there? Which substantive gaps does he want to fill by 2030? How can the State Opera be a house for all Austrians? There will be answers and insights into the everyday life of a state opera director on Monday.
