“Pygmalion” and the search for the perfect lover

Those who are in love are sometimes also in love with their projections. Long before Freud, Ovid told of the sculptor Pygmalion falling for his perfect statue of a woman. Goddess Venus makes them come alive. Both great-granddaughters will later fall in love with their own father and father the beautiful Adonis with him. Dancer and choreographer Silke Grabinger and her company SILK Fluegge take on the complex mythological dance in four parts: “Pygmalion Nullpunktzwei” invited to her creative space Kliscope (Glimpfingerstraße 8, Linz) on Saturday: Elias Choi-Buttinger, Gergely Dudás-Simó, Kirin Espana and Silke Grabinger slip into many characters in order to trace the unworldly artist, the creative act, the striving for the perfect lover, but also sexual assaults.

In the golden rock, Venus resembles a dervish – repetitive movement patterns, sometimes in slow motion, unfold to the throbbing sound (Rojin Sharafi) in the twilight (Max Windisch-Spoerk) and the scent of incense, a trance-like undertow in which some things are clear, others remain in limbo.
