Sean Penn: Actor presents Selenskyj with an Oscar

During a visit to Ukraine, Hollywood star Sean Penn symbolically presented President Volodymyr Zelenskyj with one of his Oscars.

Hollywood star Sean Penn (62) gave one of his Oscars to President Volodymyr Zelenskyj (44) during a visit to Ukraine. The ‘Milk’ actor’s golden boy is said to remain in Kyiv until the end of the war and to be a “symbol of faith” in the country’s victory in the ongoing conflict with Russia.

The statue is one of two trophies Penn won for Best Actor in 2004’s Mystic River and 2009’s Milk. Ahead of this year’s Oscars in March, the actor had pushed for Zelenskyj to be invited to give a speech, and otherwise. He himself would “melt down” his two Oscar statues in protest, Penn said.
