The financial police want to take action against wage dumping this year

The company closings due to the corona pandemic and the long-term closed borders have led to a decrease in violations of the wage and social dumping law, the Ministry of Finance announced in a broadcast over the weekend. Nevertheless, almost 30,000 companies and more than 60,000 employees were checked by the financial police, which led to 8,600 criminal complaints, the broadcast said.

In Upper Austria 4087 companies and 7458 employees were checked. The controls led to 1230 criminal complaints. Almost four out of ten criminal complaints were suspected of wage and social dumping, followed by illegal employment of foreigners, who made up almost a third of the criminal complaints.

This year’s control plan provides that the financial police will be intensively active in the area of wage and social dumping. There should be more focus actions at the borders.

“The fact that fraud has no lockdown is shown by the many discoveries made by the financial police despite the closings during the corona pandemic,” Finance Minister Gernot Blümel is quoted as saying in the broadcast. The success rate of the controls also speaks for the accuracy of the work of the financial police, so Blümel.
