Hollywood star Whoopi Goldberg has to pause again as the presenter of the talk show “The View” because of a corona infection.
“Sister Act” star Whoopi Goldberg (67) has again tested positive for Corona. She will not appear on The View while she recovers, citing a rep for the actress. This confirmed that Goldberg had felt ill before the broadcast and tests later confirmed that she had contracted the virus.
Goldberg’s co-host Sara Haines, 45, took over to host the show in her place and was joined by Sunny Hostin, 54, and new co-hosts Ana Navarro, 50, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, 33.
Goldberg was already missing in January due to corona
This is the second time Goldberg has been absent from the show due to Covid-19. Goldberg tested positive back in January and missed a few episodes after the Christmas holidays. At that time she switched on virtually and informed her colleagues about her diagnosis. She felt mild symptoms and took a break from the show to recover.
“It was a shock because I’ve been triple vaccinated, I haven’t been anywhere, I haven’t done anything,” Goldberg said. “It’s one of those things where you’re like, ‘I’ve done everything I was supposed to do,'” lamented the actress. “Well, that won’t stop Omicron.”
Suspension after Holocaust statement
ABC News suspended Goldberg for two weeks in January after she said on The View that the Holocaust was “not about race.” The moderator apologized shortly thereafter. She tweeted on February 1, “I said on today’s show that the Holocaust is ‘not about race, it’s about man’s inhumanity to man’. I should have said it’s about both. “
She also wrote: “As Jonathan Greenblatt of the Anti-Defamation League shared, the Holocaust was about the Nazis’ systematic extermination of the Jewish people, who considered them an inferior race. I correct myself.” Whoopi Goldberg concluded her post by saying, “The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never change. I apologize for the pain I’ve caused.” She signed the note, “Written with my sincere apologies, Whoopi Goldberg.”
