Actor Christian Kahrmann fell ill with corona in the spring and was in a coma for almost three weeks. In the ProSieben program “Zervakis & Opdenhövel. Live.” he reported how badly he is still doing.
In mid-March of this year, actor Christian Kahrmann fell seriously ill with Covid-19. The 49-year-old had to be admitted to a Berlin clinic with shortness of breath and a fever of 41 degrees and was in the intensive care unit in an artificial coma for 17 days. After about three months in the hospital, he was discharged in mid-June and then went into rehab.
How much the consequences of the disease are still bothering him, Kahrmann now described during an appearance on the ProSieben program “Zervakis & Opdenhövel. Live”. He had “muscle and limb pain, nerve pain and numb feet,” and he also suffered from insomnia and sudden attacks of exhaustion, said the former “Lindenstrasse” actor. His organs and blood are also permanently damaged. Kahrmann is a Long Covid patient.
Christian Kahrmann and his family had Corona
A film was recorded in the program that documents Kahrmann’s ordeal. In it, he tells, among other things, that he has lost 20 kilos and until recently was dependent on a walker because he could no longer walk independently. He also had scars on his chin and cheek.
“They are from the tube that I had in my throat. I was placed on my stomach eight hours a day to relieve the lungs. The tube presses on the chin and then at some point the skin burst. The cheek is cheeky from the little tube that brings the oxygen into the tube, “said Kahrmann. He bursts into tears several times when he reports about his corona illness and meets again a doctor and a nurse who saved his life.
However, Kahrmann not only had to cope with a serious corona illness, but also the death of his parents. His father Gerd died in March, his mother Ute succumbed to cancer in June. “It’s the tragedy of my life,” said Kahrmann in July, but at the same time contradicted reports that he was responsible for the death of his parents.
“In the family we all had Corona, my parents, my older sister Bettina and I. That’s why you can’t trace who infected whom. And you certainly can’t say that I infected my father and mother and I am to blame for the death of my parents, “said Kahrmann. The loss of his parents was an additional shock in his situation. He couldn’t even say goodbye to his father: he died while Kahrmann himself was in a coma.
