This was the result of a survey by Integral on behalf of the pharmaceutical company Gynial. Especially on issues such as pregnancy and menstruation, followed by puberty and contraception, daughters see their mothers as a good point of contact.
53 percent of young women describe their mothers as “very important” or “important” for educating women on women’s health issues – while this was the case for only 31 percent of those over 50.
No more taboo subjects
This picture is also evident when it comes to sexuality. While sex was “an absolute taboo subject” for 40 percent of the mothers of those over 50 years old today, it is only 27 percent of those surveyed as a whole. However, there are still differences of opinion about the quality of the discussions. For example, 74 percent of mothers see a good basis for discussions with their daughters on the subject of sexuality, while the daughters can only confirm this to 31 percent.
