Spears’ attorney demanded in November that the private asset management firm Bessemer Trust be appointed as “sole guardian”. However, the application was recently denied. A legal document read: “The trustee’s motion to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust as sole trustee of the property is denied without prejudice.” According to a media report, Bessemer Trust has since asked the court to withdraw from the Spears case.
