Ricky Martin in Argentina: enjoyment, beyond forms

After a few more presentations -among them a couple in Bogotá, Colombia- the interpreter landed in Buenos Aires to take charge of a modality that could not escape others of the same stamp that try to force the cross between two modalities of different character.

Although it is healthy to maintain that music is one and no prior convention is necessary for its enjoyment, the intersection of the pop-Latin world with the symphonic device often crudely exhibits the procedural distances that each style entails.

And, as always in these cases, the orchestral aspect and its imprint remained prisoners of the original pop pulse of the songs that Ricky (in this case) did not want to lose in order to create a kind of third sound language capable of risking a more real fusion. and elaborate.

Far from these disquisitions and in front of an orchestra of 52 instrumentalists directed by Ezekiel Silberstein and also of the nine slopes of his band (David Cabrera in guitar and musical direction, Carlos David Perez in choirs, Tony Escapes in drums, paulo stargano in percussion, Alberto Menendez on piano, paul de la bella in low, gustavo escobar on trumpet, Lester Perez on trombone and Andres Vicencio on sax), the Puerto Rican put together a 105-minute party.

After a little more than two and a half years of waiting (in February 2020 before the pandemic stopped the world, he arrived on the same stage and also in Córdoba with the “Movimiento Tour”), the artist confirmed the passions that he is capable of arousing.

A devotion such as that shown by Natalia and Belén from Cordoba who traveled for a day to be the first in a long line at the main entrance to the stadium on Corrientes Avenue or the more than fifty members of the Tu y Yo fan club ( one of the 20 that exist in Argentina) that almost occupied the entire Humboldt street with their flags and t-shirts with the legend Las Fuchsias.

At the beginning and just after 9:30 p.m., he resorted to classics such as “Hit”, “You’ll be back”, “Thank you for thinking” and “The bomb” and immediately included his latest single “Acid Taste”.

Also supported by a fiery visual device that enjoyed his image and was capable of showing the drawing of a bleeding heart to accompany “Shot to the Heart”, nobody missed the usual Ricky.

“The years go by, we go through many ups and downs, but you, Argentina, Buenos Aires, always with that love and affection. Thank you, thank you, thank you, ”she greeted at a halt in that first segment.

Immediately, referring to members of the orchestra, he asked for “a round of applause for this local talent, this Argentine talent” and without further ado he revealed his game: “We came to make them fall in love, to dance, to do a little bit of everything, I think except to take off our clothes But we’re going to have a good time, I assure you. We have put on this show and I know that it will leave a lot of emotions, here you have the best of me. Enjoy it Buenos Aires, enjoy it, ”she said between shouts and applause.

A combination of “Flight”, “The love of my life” and “I miss you” gave way, after “Sharks”to a successful version with the leading role of the cello from “Asignatura pending”.

But that intimate atmosphere that included the old ballad “Vuelve” was shattered by a series that began with “Livin’ la vida loca” and “Vente pa’ acá” and that closed with “La copa de la vida”, a song that he consecrated it in the 98 World Cup in France and for which here he included wrapping himself in an Argentine flag, which unleashed another explosion of the senses.

For the finale and at the time of the encores, the show ended with “Tal vez” and “Tu recuerdo”, two other pieces capable of raising the emotional temperature of the suffocating night even more.

To the musical proposal of “Ricky Martin Symphonic” At the Movistar Arena there are still two completely sold-out shows left, tomorrow and Thursday, December 1.

In all cases and as happened the day before, the opening show is given by the Argentine guitarist, author and singer Nahuel Pennisi.

“The invitation to open Ricky Martin’s shows has moved me and surprised me a lot. I am very grateful for this possibility that music gives me. I have always admired Ricky.
