If you come from Germany, Austria or Switzerland, you must have a negative antigen test result that is not older than 48 hours or a PCR test result that is not older than 72 hours. In addition, an online registration form must be completed in advance. Anyone who has been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days does not need a test.
The so-called small border traffic within 24 hours, for example for shopping, remains possible without conditions. For many other countries of origin, significantly stricter rules apply in some cases. Returning travelers from Spain have to be in quarantine, from which they can only free themselves on the fifth day with a negative PCR test. The Czech Republic closes its borders entirely to tourists from Russia, South Africa, Tunisia and a number of other countries.
The Delta variant, which was first discovered in India, is considered to be particularly contagious. The corona infection situation in the Czech Republic has improved a lot, but recently the numbers of new infections have increased again. According to current figures, nine people per 100,000 inhabitants were infected with the virus within seven days. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 30,300 people have died with or from a corona infection in the EU member state with just under 10.7 million inhabitants.
